It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the record chasers, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

It needed until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's difficult for their batters to possess a record if never given the opportunity.

Finally, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this innings followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it was a challenging time because I feel like I lacked timing at all," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your competitive instincts activate and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and after that the batsman was on her way.

"A chance to take the field and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was dismissed the team needed 66 more at run per delivery - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the belief to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if we do, we are confident we can succeed."

These statements will be the final thing rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will win from any position has only strengthened - this victory succeeding win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

During that phase they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she regretted not playing despite the injury.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have pushed back plans to retire, this World Cup is anticipated as her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
