The United Kingdom is set to progress with utilizing the full worth of immobilized Russia's holdings to aid the Ukrainian war effort, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a shared declaration, the heads of state of the UK, the French Republic, and Germany asserted that this unified step would increase strain on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and compel Russia to engage in negotiations.

They clarified that the initiative would be implemented in tight collaboration with the America.

United Kingdom penalties have frozen over £25bn of Russian resources since the Russian government launched its widespread offensive against Ukraine in 2022. However, up to this point, money allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russia's assets had solely been drawn from earnings and returns generated on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, France, and Germany were aligned in their aim to drive progress toward using the total worth of the frozen Russia's state assets to end the war.

He stated that additional measures in the coming days and weeks would increase the strain on the Russian government.

This declaration comes after European Union representatives met in Copenhagen previously to consider employing seized Russian funds for a €140bn loan to Ukraine.

Recently, American leader Donald Trump urged G7 allies to confiscate or employ seized Russian assets, based on news outlets.

The value of immobilized Russian assets in the European Union is calculated to be almost €211bn.

Leader Zelensky encourages UK's Sir Keir Starmer to participate in the PURL initiative

Russia launched widespread aerial attacks all over the Ukrainian territory on recently, causing power cuts in significant regions of Kyiv, the city, and eight other regions.

Two people were fatally injured and a minimum of 20 people were hurt in the strike, the Ukrainian government stated.

In a post on X after the attack, Zelensky wrote that the cynical and calculated attack aimed at non-military and power facilities.

"The necessity is not just talk but firm measures - from the US, Europe, and the Group of Seven - in supplying air defence systems and applying restrictions," he wrote.

"Each restrictive measure diminishes the Russian war effort," Zelensky noted, in a separate post.

Also on Friday, Zelensky informed the press he would encourage Sir Keir to participate in the Purl programme, under which alliance members buy military equipment from the US to donate to Ukraine.

While praising the Britain's consistent assistance for the Ukrainian government, he said it should indicate firmly that it would engage in the program, as well as impose further restrictions on Russia.
