Ex- Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients

Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor has been charged with performing assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

Details of the Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

A senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

The charging documents said the 45 charges include:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
