Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Adds to the English team's Injury Worries.

'Major setback' for the touring side as Atkinson goes off due to a hamstring issue.

The pace bowler further complicated England's injury problems upon exiting the ground on the second morning of the Boxing Day Test in the Ashes series.

The pace bowler felt a problem in his left hamstring immediately following a delivery that he bowled on Saturday.

The England team stated the 27-year-old had experienced "tightness" and would spend time on the sidelines for further assessment "during the day".

The final Test of the series beginning on 4 January begins on Sunday, 4 January.

The visitors have previously lost key quicks Mark Wood due to knee trouble and another paceman because of a side injury during this series.

A replacement bowler was called up as cover for Wood.

Atkinson struggled early in the series, claiming a mere a handful of scalps.

He was dropped for the Adelaide match, only to be brought back for the Melbourne Test in the playing XI.

The county bowler performed better in the fourth Test, taking two wickets with the ball, and scoring 28 runs as a batsman as one of just three teammates to reach double figures.

Following a brief spell in Australia's second innings, he resumed the next day and had nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.

Yet, on the final ball of that over, he sent down a change of pace to Travis Head and promptly felt at his leg.

Gus Atkinson was recalled for the Melbourne match after being left out of the third.
