Heartbreaking News on UPS Incident: Death Toll Climbs to 13

The tally of lives lost resulting from the transport jet which caught fire and went down has now risen to 13, according to official announcements.

City Leader's Announcement

“On my way to the Union’s vigil, I was informed of a 13th person that lost their life as a consequence of the aircraft incident,” stated the city mayor in a public communication. “My prayers are with the families, friends and peers of all who were lost in this week’s disaster. We will get through this collectively.”

Casualties Named

An announcement from the carrier identified the pilots on board the McDonnell Douglas MD-11 as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.

“Our thoughts are extended to each UPSer who has been touched and all in our community community – helping you and guaranteeing you receive the attention and assistance you need is our focus,” the company’s communication expressed.

Inquiry Findings

National authorities revealed that the jet’s wing ignited and an engine separated soon after takeoff from the Louisville Muhammad Ali international airport, causing the plane to plummet and explode into a inferno.

The safety agency has said it is examining the aircraft’s maintenance history, that was in the state for repairs weeks before the incident.

Aviation information indicated the jet was on the tarmac in that location from early September to 18 October.

“We are aware that this plane was located in that city,” said an official on Thursday, without providing a specific period. “We will review each aspect of maintenance that was completed, from the Texas period, straight to the time of the flight.”

Retrieval of Vital Components

The cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder were found, and the engine was found on the runway.

The recorders – referred to as flight recorders – were designed to endure crash impacts and extreme temperatures from fires, and they looked to be intact when located among the crash debris. Authorities plan on examining information from the recorders.

Aircraft’s concluding data recordings displayed an elevation of that level and a speed of that speed prior to the impact.

Maintenance Record

According to FAA records dated last month, a fissure on a component inside the fuel container needed maintenance.

Headquartered in Singapore ST Engineering, which said it provides structural repairs for the carrier’s aircraft and manages a repair facility in San Antonio, refused to comment, but stated it would cooperate fully when officials contacted it.

Services Restart

In the meantime, the facility activities resumed that evening with its Next Day Air or nighttime process, representative a representative stated. Each of the three landing strips at the airport were also reopened.

The sorting center in Louisville is the company’s largest. The facility engages in excess of twenty thousand workers in the region, manages three hundred flights per day and sorts over 400,000 items an hour.

Public Support

A memorial was conducted on the late afternoon of that date by the regional labor union, which acts for workers at the Louisville airport, the company’s biggest shipping facility.

Teamsters Local 89, which represents staff, commenced the memorial with a period of reflection at the evening hour, the rough time of the crash two days earlier.

“This tragedy was so abrupt, so unexpected,” the leader told the crowd of attendees. “No one had a chance to part to any one of those who we have lost.”
