Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is uncertain and the United States has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas associated with the the regime, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the government.

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

Officials reported wreckage fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
