Netflix Chooses Perfect Star for Bentham in the Hit Series Upcoming Installment

The Secret Organization is set to play a huge role in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the major clash won’t unfold until the third season, and a cherished, fan-favorite member has recently been selected.

Netflix announced this week that Cole Escola has joined the One Piece cast for the third season and will embody Mr. 2. This character can use their power to change into an identical duplicate of any individual they’ve made contact with with their right hand. Escola, who is gender non-conforming and uses they/them pronouns, will portray a version of that role reinterpreted as gender non-binary, instead of as a drag artist, in the real-life adaptation, unlike the initial comic and cartoon version.

This performer is joined by a number of new cast members tasked with bringing the group to life, including chief the main antagonist, portrayed by Joe Manganiello, an emerging star as Miss Goldenweek, and a familiar face, who also joins the ensemble as King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta.

Although the role is a key figure of the group, the persona won’t appear until One Piece season 3. Given season 2 likely to portray the Little Garden storyline, this marks a major departure in the timing of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could signal additional alterations to the plot development.

Escola’s blend of excellent comedic sense and profound feeling makes them a ideal selection for the character. Besides their recent voice performance in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and several accolades for penning and acting in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, emphasizing the range they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s highly regarded roles.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece show is scheduled to come back for its second season on March 10, 2026.
