Performer Refutes Anti-Vax Position After Narrating Controversial Covid Film
Liam Neeson has given his vocal talents to a feature-length documentary that challenges the efficacy of vaccinations and lauds one-time health official Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Film's Provocative Basis
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the film is inspired by a well-known publication co-authored by a disgraced researcher, who gained notoriety during the pandemic for assertions that the virus was a result of a problematic version of the flu vaccine.
Her collaborator, a producer, has penned books with controversial media personality a known commentator. Heckenlively took to social media celebrating Neeson's participation in the film.
A Strong Denial
Representatives for Neeson have released a response strongly denying claims that he holds anti-vaccine views.
"Many understand that unethical practices can exist within the medical sector, but that cannot be conflated with opposition to vaccines," the response states. "He has never been, and is not, anti-vax. His long work with the UN children's agency reinforces his long-held support for global immunisation initiatives."
The statement added that the actor did not shape the documentary's editorial content and that questions about its assertions ought to go to the filmmakers.
Central Themes Featured in the Film
As presented, the narration provided by Neeson makes several provocative statements:
- It states that pro-vaccine voices have insisted on "complete compliance" to public institutions.
- It declares that "research has become dangerously politicized."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is shown claiming, "The major issue with vaccines is that they are not safely tested."
- It further attacks Covid lockdowns, saying they caused severe distress that resulted in thousands of lives.
- Regarding Covid vaccines, it mentions a view that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "risky trials."
Previous Controversy and Ongoing Issues
The documentary includes a historical film about HIV drug testing on children, which was subsequently the focus of a BBC apology by the network for unbalanced reporting.
In recent weeks, Kennedy instructed the national health agency to change its longstanding position that there is no link between vaccines and autism. This claim is also referenced in the film, despite a fresh analysis from the WHO stating no such link has been found.
An Earlier Position of Support
Differing from the documentary's narrative, Neeson has previously shown strong support for vaccines in his role as a Unicef global ambassador.
Previously, he referred to vaccines as "an incredible achievement," noting that "The debate about vaccines in lately has forgotten how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in our history."
"Plague of Corruption" ends with Neeson's voice saying, "This marks not the conclusion of our narrative. This is the dawn of a fresh chapter."
