Uche Sparks Comfortable Crystal Palace Triumph at Irish Side Shelbourne.
Despite entering their maiden European campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Without star figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding result that virtually secures them a spot in the Conference League playoffs.
A further victory in their upcoming match against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct entry to the last 16, particularly following a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity
This match provided a platform for several Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second consecutive match.
A Shelbourne side that had finished their league season were outmatched even for a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.
Control Asserted from the Start
In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A slick move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward tap-in.
Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, driving a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the referee dismissed the protests.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.
A solitary concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
